Týn organ
Documentary, Czech and international version 50 minutes (international version 52 minutes)

From 1997 to September 2000 took place the reconstruction of the oldest organ in Prague, instrument from the church of Panna Maria under Týn on the Old Town square in Prague. It was made possible to document the whole work on which collaborated the organ atelier Kleist in Bonn (the instrument) and Czech restaurateur Václav Stádník (organ cupboard, architecture of the organ and decorations).

The film was shot in phases following the progress of the work, starting with the historical research and the disassembling of the organ to its transfer to Germany, continuing with the work in Germany and Prague, the transport back to Prague in spring 2000, finishing with the consecration and the first concerts of famous Czech organists. In the film is documented not only the reconstruction work, but also the history of the organ an its link to the city of Prague.

The town of Prague was the original buyer of the organ and had it made by a German organ builder, who constructed it in three years. At the end of the twentieth century the instrument was reconstructed in three years by a German organ builder. This can be felt as a renewal of a broken tradition, that set the city of Prague as a multicultural town in the heart of Europe.

Another aspect that comes out in the film is the destiny of the Czech lands as seen through the large oval window below the organ on the Old Town square: the execution of Czech lords after the defeat of the revolt of the estates, the crowning of the Austrian kings, the end of the first World War and the creation of the Czech republic, symbolized by the taking down of the Marian column, a German tank in flames and the town hall burning during the may revolution, demonstrations on the end of the communist regime and modern time happenings during the celebration of hockey victory.

The shooting took place in Prague and Germany with the restaurateurs, historians, organ builders and organists, ambassador of Germany in Prague, ambassador of Czech republic in Germany, representative of the city council and many other personalities that worked on the organization and financing of the repairs.
